Teaneck—Congregation Netivot Shalom—a modern Orthodox synagogue in Teaneck—is having its annual dinner on Saturday, March 7 at 8:00 pm, at Fair Lawn Jewish Center. The dinner’s theme is “volunteerism,” which is embodied by this year’s honorees: Leah and Alex Moskovits, recipients of the Sema Heller Memorial Award; and Fred Schulman, recipient of the Service Award. The honorees are always ready, willing, and able to share their time, talents, and expertise with the community for any and all tasks, both big and small.
Leah and Alex Moskovits are long-time Teaneck residents. Leah—who has been the librarian at the Torah Academy of Bergen County for 15 years—has served on Netivot Shalom’s religious affairs, rabbi search, and dinner committees, and served on the board for the past four years. Alex served on the house committee and also is on the board. He also generously devotes significant time to fixing and trouble-shooting issues related to the synagogue’s building.
Fred Schulman has served as a gabbai (prayer leader) and is a regular baal tefilla (leader of services) on Shabbat and the yomim tovim (holidays). He also gives regular classes (shiurim).
Underscoring the theme of volunteerism, food and book drives will be held at the dinner. For more information on the dinner contact: [email protected].
