Yeshivat He’Atid fourth graders are now signed up for NEWSELA, a digital library of news articles that updates every day. NEWSELA is a leading partner in many blended learning schools for fourth grade and above. The program is common core aligned and provides students with articles at five different Lexile levels in categories such as social studies, science and technology. The Pro Edition being used allows teachers to assign text sets on specific topics that relate to the science and social studies topics covered in class. Students also take short multiple choice quizzes after reading each article and can complete customizable writing assignments. The teacher can review and assess each student’s individual reading level, performance on quizzes and mastery of specific common core standards in language arts.
