The RKYHS Jewish Life Committee (JLC) ran a “Davening B’Yachad Initiative.’ The idea was created from the understanding that a crucial component to living an uplifted and sanctified Jewish life is by caring about and giving to others. With such a motivation and desire to enhance the tefillah experience, JLC sent out a Google form where students had both the option to daven for someone else and/or to say something they wanted davened for (for example: they have a big test coming up, someone is sick in their family, etc). Once students’ forms were submitted, JLC paired up those who wanted to daven for someone with something to have in mind while davening. Having someone else in mind has been known to increase one’s kavanah and connection to tefillah. While this program was optional, many students enjoyed participating, since this is the ultimate way to give to others.
