With the Jewish New Year upon us, we are all looking for ways to better ourselves, whether you choose to take upon yourself something new, or are trying to become kinder, more compassionate to those around you, I find that when one feels good about themselves it’s easier to be the best version of oneself. Often a boost of self-confidence starts from the outside in. Here are some of this year’s fall and winter trends to try to give you that extra boost of confidence.
When deciding your hair/wig look for this year’s fall and winter season, think: less is more. The overall trend for fall and winter hairstyles this season is low key. Think, subtle hair colors, simple cuts, easy styles and casual blowouts. Of course for the holidays and special occasions a little sparkly accessory can go a long way, but for everyday wear the less the better for this season. Here are some real simple ideas to do with your sheitel that will make a big statement without a large price tag.
Bangs: Bangs are making a real comeback! Curtain bangs, choppy bangs and feathered bangs are all trending. For wig wearers this is the best news ever! Bangs are the easiest way for a wig to look more natural. While lace tops and lace fronts are the latest craze in the wig world, instead of adding an expensive lace front to an older wig, try revamping it with a bang. Not only will you be trending a complimentary look, you will be saving yourself hundreds of dollars.
Messy Buns: This is literally the best trend any wig wearer can hope for! Not only does this look extremely natural on any wig, but it’s practical as well. If your wig is in between wash and sets but you had no time for it, or the wig hair is in bad condition, looking too old and raggedy, throw it into a messy bun and no one will ever know! This is also a great style to prevent the wig hair from knotting, which always increases as we start to wear sweaters and winter coats.
Chunky Highlights: Chunky highlights look awesome in wigs! Since wigs have a lot more density than hair, adding pops of color to them gives the hair on the wig more life and movement, making the wig look more natural. Adding pops of color to wigs also does wonders for your complexion, and you may find that you will not need as much makeup.
Bouncy Blow Outs: The ‘90s big fluffy curls are back! Since wigs have more density than one’s hair, this style is easy to achieve in a wig. When the bounce in your wig starts to fall, reset the wig with velcro rollers at night. In the morning your wig will look fresh and ready to go.
Headbands with Bangs: I can’t think of a better way to make a wig look more natural! Statement headbands are all the rage this season. If you find it too bulky to wear a headband with your wig, consider removing the wig’s ear flaps so that the head band can lay flat behind your ears.
Shaggy Fringe with Shag Cut: This cut can revamp any wig, even an older wig that is starting to bald from all the hair lost over the years. Rather than adding new hair to the wig, which can be pricey, consider cutting a shaggy bang into the wig, and or revamping the entire wig with a modern shag cut.
Shadow Rooting: A subtle but more darkened look by the root is key to making any wig look more natural. Chances are that over the summer the top of your wig has oxidized and needs refreshing. During the fall and winter, going a bit darker by the wigs roots, especially for blondes, will prevent you from looking washed out as your tan fades.
Statement Clips: Feeling like your wig looks a bit drab between wash and sets? Pin one side of your wig back with a bold barrette or clip to add more life to the overall style.
