(Courtesy of OJCC) This past Wednesday, August 3, Governor Phil Murphy signed legislation extending outdoor dining to November 2024 throughout the state of New Jersey. The dining permissions were set to expire on November 30 of this year, but will now be extended by two additional years. Murphy made it clear that eateries may continue with the usage of umbrellas, tents and outdoor seating in a unique effort to bolster small businesses and the community at large.
“Supporting the success of our small businesses ultimately means supporting the success of our communities. Continuing this successful practice will not only benefit small-business owners, but also the many patrons who have come to enjoy the atmosphere and opportunities outdoor dining offers,” stated the governor.
Duvi Honig, founder and CEO at the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce, stood beside the governor for this celebratory announcement and signing.
While many used outdoor dining as a protection from COVID-19, the notion continues to have appeal. People enjoy the outdoors and can take advantage of the natural beauty.
