(Courtesy of Bris Avrohom) As the war in Israel continues and each individual is doing his share for the safety and success of our brothers and sisters in Israel, Jewish men in uniform in New Jersey did theirs by putting on tefillin. Tefillin serves as a protector, as the Gemara states that tefillin places fear in one’s enemies. Each Jew is responsible for one another, and so these uniformed men put on tefillin and recited Shema, which serves as a protection for brethren fighting in Israel.
Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky, executive director of Bris Avrohom, is busy encouraging more and more people to be scrupulous with the mitzvah of tefillin daily and inspiring them to encourage others to do the same. Those who would like to sponsor a pair of tefillin for a soldier in Israel should contact Rabbi Kanelsky at (908) 289-0770.
