(Courtesy of NJ NCSY) NJ NCSY once again took a group of Ma’ayanot students to New Orleans, Louisiana, where they learned about chesed, tikun olam and Jewish leadership. The students volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and Green Light New Orleans. Also, for the first time, the teens ran Purim programming at Torah Academy, setting a great example as Jewish teenage role models. One of the most meaningful portions of the mission was Shabbat at Anshe Sfard, where Rabbi Prince and Rabbi Katz created a minyan for a tourist who was marking the shloshim of the loss of a parent. The look on this person’s face reminded everyone of the famous Shlock Rock song, “Minyan Man.” NJ NCSY is looking forward to many more chesed missions.
