NLS Makes Positive Impact in Jewish Community

(Courtesy of Next Level Sports) In the short time Next Level Sports (NLS) has been running its sports programs in New Jersey they have impacted so many students in a positive way. Despite only being in New Jersey for just over a year, NLS already has the reputation for being a program that really cares about each student, and sees skill development and conduct as paramount.

Coach Simon prides himself on NLS’s distinction:

I’ve been around the sport scene both competing and coaching for decades now, so this is a subject matter that I’m very versed in and passionate about. In my humble observation, sport is lacking the values it ought to have in our Jewish community and from a Jewish perspective. As it stands, competition is at the forefront without any real guidance or emphasis on skill or conduct. I’ve experienced the collateral damage of this whereby a game ends up in tears, insults and arguing (and that’s just the parents lol). At NLS, we strive to teach healthy competition and focus on more than ONLY winning.

I’ve turned down positions in professional soccer teams here in America, as I want my energy geared towards having an impact solely in the Jewish community. Sport taught and played correctly has the ability to imbed so many life lessons: teamwork, respect to others and officials, how to cope when results don’t always go your way. Sport is more than just kicking or throwing a ball, and it definitely goes beyond winning. Our coaches share these vital values and give them over in a fun, but structured, way.

NLS is excited to announce the launch of sport leagues, beginning with soccer and basketball leagues this spring! NLS sports leagues are debuting a unique hybrid program. The first phase of the program is geared at skill development and getting the students ready on how to play both in terms of skill, positional play and being an encouraging team player. The second phase and majority aspect will be league format. This is not passive time and will still very much be supervised, not only by our volunteer parents (who’s son or daughter go for free), but also by the coach. We want to create a healthy environment whereby students are not nervous to make mistakes, or fear of being shouted at, blamed or losing. The leagues will have healthy competition where there is still a focus on improvement and skill development.

Coach Simon emphasized: “I personally work with over 200+ students on a weekly basis. Kids thrive on structure and need constant encouragement, reinforcement and guidance of what the bigger picture ought to be. They can’t be left to their own devices and expect to know how to play, and, more importantly, the manner to play. It’s tough even for adults.”

Early bird league discount ends March 5. Contact Coach Simon for more details,
