The undefeated Noam Knights boys sixth grade basketball team, a group of twelve extremely close friends, was ready for their championship matchup against Moriah. They had won their semifinal game against BPY by a very small margin, with a final score of 51-50.
This time the Knights made it clear from the start that the game was not going to be a close one. They began the game very strong and after the horn sounded to end the first quarter, the score was 16-2 Knights. It looked like tragedy might have struck when point guard Eli Saks needed to throw up and was forced to leave the game, but replacment Joey Zelig did a great job covering up for Saks.
The second quarter saw much the same as the first; the Knights played solid offense and were able to hold Moriah very well defensively. In the third quarter Moriah, led by Albert Benatar, tried to make a few runs, but were stopped by Matti Cohen (13 points) and Harry Orlinsky (18 points) off of assists from Eli Saks (7). Yis Kaminetzky (3) and Joseph Mann (7) also displayed their talent. In the fourth quarter the Knights kept it up and were ecstatic to be crowned the champions of the sixth grade boys basketball league. The final score was 50-34 Knights.
Coach Dovey Forman led the Knights all the way through their undefeated season.
