The 6th grade Noam Knights played their first home game vs. Moriah on Feb. 18 in what some felt may have been a preview of the YMSSA Division 1 Championship game.
The game started off with the Knights early fast break points by Jonah Schacter and Eytan Suss that gave them an 8-0 lead. Moriah hit a few key shots to come close but the Knights, led by David Gellis, played strong defense.
After half-time, Noam was able to pull away quickly. Moriah’s David Matheson made a number of key steals, but it was not enough. Moriah was not able to outrebound Noam’s other big men Ari Milgram and Avery Stepner. The game ended with a score of 43-27.
This past Sunday, the Noam team won its second game against Hillel in Deal. The game started with a few critical steals from Yehuda Schmutter and key rebounding by Avery Stepner. The Knights had a large lead going into the 3rd quarter with Max Leibenstern and Jonah Gerson both shooting well. Noam finished with a resounding 40-15 win.
On Monday night, the Noam Knights took on RPRY and started out shaky but stayed in the game with a few key steals. David Gellis owned the paint dropping 19 in the first half to give Noam a 27 to 14 lead. The Knights never looked backed after the half with suffocating defense led by Jonah Schacter and Yehudah Schmutter. Refuah Sheleimah to Aiden Sausen who missed these games due to injury!
