(Courtesy of NORPAC) On Sunday, NORPAC hosted separate events in Bergen County for Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY) and Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO).
Eliot Engel was appointed Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee for the 116th session of Congress. He co-authored a resolution on anti-Semitism that passed on the House floor last week in response to inflammatory comments made by freshman Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN). Engel was hosted in Teaneck by Rochelle and Phil Goldschmiedt.
On the same afternoon, Senator Cory Gardner came to Paramus to the home of Natalie and Davidi Jonas to discuss U.S.-Israel relations. Gardner was the lead Republican sponsor of Senate Bill S.1, the Strengthening American Security in the Middle East Act, which supports security assistance for Israel and protects states that divest from BDS-supporting contractors. This bill passed the Senate on February 5.
Eliot Engel and Cory Gardner are up for re-election in 2020 in their respective chambers of Congress.
