On Monday evening, Chana and Len Grunstein hosted a NORPAC pro-Israel event to support Congressman Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) at their home in Teaneck.
Hakeem Jeffries’ congressional district encompasses the lower-middle and eastern portions of Brooklyn, including Canarsie and East New York. Since 2017, Jeffries has been the chairman of the democratic policy and communications committee. During the 2014 Gaza conflict, Rep. Jeffries joined over 10,000 New Yorkers to protest UN bias against Israel outside of the UN headquarters in Manhattan.
During the event, Jeffries answered questions about the future of US-Israel relations in the Democratic Party. He believes that, although there are some fringe elements in the party that are less supportive, the majority of members in Congress are behind Israel. He stressed the importance of continuing advocacy efforts to further educate sitting house members and senators on the importance of American security aid to Israel, deterring Iran and countering BDS.
Hakeem Jeffries is currently serving his third term in the U.S. Congress and will be running for re-election this year. His primary election will be held on June 26.
