On Monday, Dr. Laurie Baumel of Teaneck hosted an evening event for Congressman Steve Chabot (R-OH01) at her home. Rep. Chabot is a senior member on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and has been Chairman of the House Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia (2011-2012) as well as the Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific (2012-2013).
As a Member of the House of Representatives since 1995, Steve Chabot has made several trips to Israel to meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu to discuss the US-Israel partnership. Last summer he introduced HR5827: The Determination of Russia-Iran Weapons Transfer Act of 2016 in an attempt to prevent Russian arms sales to Iran.
At the event, Rep. Chabot had a roundtable discussion with 15 other participants from the Bergen County area about US-Israel relations and the shape of things to come after President-elect Trump takes office. He stated that he maintains a positive outlook on the way the new Administration views Israel, and he believes that Congress will be able to further grow America’s capacity to support our ally in the Middle East.
Steve Chabot just won his re-election to Congress, and will be running again for his seat in 2018.
