On Thursday night, Curtiss Pulitzer and Rella Feldman hosted a NORPAC pro-Israel event for Senator Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) at their home in Teaneck. Sen. McCaskill is a former prosecutor and state auditor who won her Senate seat in 2006. She became the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Missouri, winning the seat once held by Harry Truman.
At the event, Sen. McCaskill spoke at length about Israel’s bipartisan support. A joint effort by Democrats and Republicans helped a new Iran/Russia sanctions bill pass in June by a vote of 98-2. She spoke confidently that any aggressive action taken by Iran would receive a swift response in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. She also mentioned plans to meet with Jared Kushner and other Trump officials next week to discuss the peace process and the road forward for U.S.-Israel relations under the Trump administration.
McCaskill began serving as the top-ranking Democrat on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee in January. Her legislation to address the threat of agroterrorism recently passed the Senate, and she is currently working on bipartisan, bicameral legislation to ensure that the Department of Homeland Security’s cyber mission is a top-tier priority.
She will be running for reelection in 2018.
