On Sunday, Dr. Ron and Diane Strobel hosted a NORPAC pro-Israel event for Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) at their home in Englewood. Senator Barrasso is a former medical doctor who has served in the Senate since 2007 and sits on the Foreign Relations Committee.
Barrasso was one of the first Senators to come out publically against the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal (JCPOA), and he supported additional emergency aid to Israel in the wake of the 2014 Gaza conflict. Last year, he introduced an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) reiterating Congress’ strong opposition to attempts to establish or seek recognition of a Palestinian state through the United Nations.
The Strobels have a personal relationship with Senator Barrasso, whom they met in Wyoming following the loss of a family member there. The Senator drove several hours to be with the Strobel family, and to show solidarity with the Jewish community in Jackson.
John Barrasso will be running for re-election in 2018.
