(Courtesy of NORPAC) On Sunday evening, dozens of members from the Englewood community came to meet and hear from Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) at a NORPAC event hosted in Englewood by Esther and Paul Lerer.
From 2013 until 2018 Sen. Cornyn was chosen by his colleagues to serve as the Republican Whip, the second-highest ranking position in the Senate Republican Conference. He stayed in that position for the full term and remains in GOP leadership. He is on the short list of names to succeed the current majority leader.
This year Sen. Cornyn helped push through Senate Bill S1, the Strengthening America’s Security in the Middle East Act, which was approved in the Senate by a vote of 77-21. This legislative package includes $3.3 billion in security aid to Israel, as well as the Israel Anti-Boycott Act and the Combating BDS Act.
John Cornyn recently won the Republican primary nomination in Texas and will be up for re-election this November.
