NORPAC Hosts  Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) in Englewood

(Courtesy of NORPAC) On Thursday evening, Debbie & Michael Blumenthal welcomed Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) to a NORPAC event in Englewood.

Warner was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2008 and reelected to a second term in 2014. He is currently the vice-chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus. Before becoming a Senator, Warner served as the Governor of Virginia from 2002 until 2006, while also serving as the chair of the National Governors Association from 2004 until 2005.

In 2016, Senator Warner opposed UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which claimed that Israel’s settlements have no legal validity. Senator Warner co-sponsored the Taylor Force Act, which states that no American governmental funds shall be given to a Palestinian entity that financially rewards terrorists or their families.

This year, Warner co-sponsored S.1, the United States-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act, a bill that supports full funding of security assistance to Israel as outlined in the 2016 U.S.-Israel Memorandum of Understanding.

Senator Mark Warner will be up for re-election in November 2020.
