(Jewish Link Staff and combined sources) The website for North Shore Hebrew Academy in Great Neck was hacked on Monday, December 14. Multiple sources noted that anti-Semitic images, video, songs, threats and racial slurs were posted to the page. These messages were also included in emails sent to school parents and students that same day.
For a few hours, the North Shore logo on the school’s page was changed to a swastika. The background image was changed as well, to that of a concentration camp, and the school’s name and address on the website became “North Shore Hebrew Concentration Camp,” located at the address for the camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Personal information of students and teachers were also compromised and shared in emails.
Classes were cancelled on Tuesday and the investigation is ongoing. The school has made counseling available to students. On the same day, other Jewish schools in the region and around the country had begun sharing messages of support, stating that “An attack on one Jewish school is an attack on all.”
