We are writing this in response to last week’s letter by Joe Feldman from the Teach NJ PAC. First of all, the assertion that the moderate candidates who understand our community would have lost regardless if there was one unified slate is false or at least uncertain. The total votes for Yitz and Tamar equal 11,027, which is more than any other candidate. Ellen Park had the most votes with 10,999. Granted, these results are not yet certified and not yet considered final. We also have to take into consideration all the people who sat home and did not vote in this primary, because they knew that by splitting the vote, neither had a chance. How much more motivated would people have been if there was a unified slate.
The facts are plain and simple: The Democrat primary was completely botched by those claiming to have the best intentions of our community in mind. Now we have to deal with the prospect of the most extreme and horrible candidates as contenders in the general election.
The good news is the Republican Party has put up two excellent moderate candidates who have a deep appreciation and understanding of our community. Candidates Andrew Meehan and Marco Navarro, have a real chance at winning with the support of moderate Democrats.
We urge all moderate Democrats who have been disillusioned by their party to switch their registration to Republican. This will send a strong message that the people are sick and tired of the radical Left takeover of the Democrat party.
