Elisabeth S. King, 84, passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick, on Saturday, March 12, 2022. She was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.

King was a graduate of Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, receiving her bachelor’s degree in history. She continued her education at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, obtaining a master’s degree in library services.

King spent most of her professional career as the corporate librarian for Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick. She raised her children and pursued a variety of other interests: leading the Girl Scouts; volunteering with the Diaper Bank and Elijah’s Promise at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple; being a member of the bioethics committee at St. Peter’s University Hospital, several book clubs and the OSHER Learners Club through Rutgers University; and activities including knitting and yoga.

Predeceased by her parents, Harry and Sylvia (Katz) Schwartz, and her husband, Donald R. King, she is survived by her son, Henry King and his wife, Tracie; her daughter, Susan King and her wife, Barbara Hall; grandchildren Eli Hall-King, Noah Hall-King, Samuel King, Annarose King and Michael King; her brothers William Schwartz and his wife, Susan; and Richard Schwartz and his wife, Joan.

Funeral service was held on March 14 at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, 222 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick. Interment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, New Jersey.

Arrangements were under the care of the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick.
