Of Math and Menorot at TABC

Has anyone ever tried to make a trapezoid out of a menorah? In Rabbi Krinsky’s geometry class at TABC they used the calculations from the Gemara to figure out the height of the Beit Hamikdash’s menorah in t’fachim (fists), in addition to seeing if it formed a trapezoid. Since the arms of the menorah were straight, and not curved, the students noticed many hidden trapezoids. They saw that the cups that held the oil were parallel to the center main branch of the menorah. Were these two parallel lines enough to form the trapezoid? Just ask these students. They can also tell you the lengths of the legs in tefachim. Could Rabbi Krinsky’s class have also discovered isosceles trapezoids?
