Ohav Emeth Hosts Art Auction in Highland Park

An art sale and auction was held at Congregation Ohav Emeth (OE) in Highland Park on Sunday evening, June 30. Over 100 new and like-new paintings and other art and collectibles were available for viewing throughout the week and to take home after the event, with the proceeds evenly divided to benefit OE, Camp HASC, SINAI, and the Kinder Fund in memory of Dina Eisner.

Event co-organizers Lilah Braun and Barbara Weiss curated the art and displayed the pieces in the social hall according to categories such as Judaica (both modern and traditional), Israeli and landscapes. Weiss came up with the idea for the event while preparing her parents’ apartment for sale and realizing there were many beautiful pieces that would need to find “new homes.” Braun noted that “one day we had no art and then lots of pieces began to appear every day.” With pieces of all styles, sizes, genres and color themes, there is something for everyone. The free admission and delicious refreshments made the evening a destination event, with many delighted art lovers bringing home multiple pieces. There were multiple pre-bids, and several pieces received offers that were much higher than expected.
