OHEL Provides Brit Milah for Foster Care Baby

(Courtesy of OHEL) OHEL Children’s Home and Family Services held a very moving brit milah recently at Congregation Heichal Dovid in Lawrence, New York, for a Jewish baby boy placed in OHEL foster care.

The baby’s birth mother as well as the OHEL foster mother were present.

OHEL’s foster care staff placed the baby with a wonderful foster family that had been previously trained and licensed by OHEL. The bris was conducted by Rabbi Paysach Krohn, and Rabbi Mordechai Stern had the honor of naming the baby.

OHEL board members Fred Schulman, Michelle Sulzberger and Aryeh Jacobson were also in attendance. The suedah, sponsored by Avi and Elia Weinstock and OHEL’s Thea Jeret Simcha Fund, was attended by many members of the Far Rockaway and Five Towns community who came to partake in the mitzvah.

OHEL was founded in 1969 as a foster care agency to provide loving Jewish homes for Jewish children facing neglect and/or abuse, and to date, has cared for over 2,500 foster children.

OHEL is the most trusted haven of safety and support, providing services that help build lives, and strengthen families, homes and communities to face social, developmental and emotional challenges.
