Congregation Ohr Torah in West Orange held its annual barbecue on Sunday, May 26. The event was once again hosted by Rabbi Marc and Debra Spivak. Each year the members of the Ohr Torah community get together for an afternoon of food and fun. Children run in the yard, toss a football, play a pickup game of baseball, climb the rock-climbing wall and enjoy time in the tree house. The adults relish their time to relax among friends outside of shul. Thankfully, the weather cooperated for the majority of the time. But even in the rain, the children continued to play while the adults huddled in the house or on the deck.
This year’s event was highlighted by musical entertainment with Shua Kessin, Ohr Torah’s baal tefillah for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, who will also be joining congregants this Shabbat. Among other songs, Shua featured his new song, “Always There,” which was released on Lag BaOmer.
