Ohr Yisroel held a yom iyun and tzitzis tying workshop this past week to benefit soldiers in the IDF. Rabbi Friedman introduced the program with a moving speech including a presentation from an alumni parent whose son is currently serving in the IDF. Then the talmidim broke up into chaburos and worked with their rebbeim to both learn the halachos of tzitzis and create pairs of tzitzis themselves.

The program featured a one-to-one partnership with talmidim making a pair for a soldier and another for themselves to bond through this special mitzvah and bring shemira (protection) to all of Klal Yisroel.

The highlight of the program was a special surprise facetime with Ohr Yisroel alum, Nadav Callen, directly from his unit in the IDF. He expressed his appreciation for the talmidim’s efforts and shared words of chizuk. Rabbi Friedman, the rebbeim and all of the talmidim gathered together to offer chizuk in return and daven together for the safety and security of the soldiers, the hostages and all of Klal Yisroel.
