Olim Advisors Takes Guesswork Out of Investing in Israeli Real Estate

‘Buying a home in Israel’ webinar planned for this Sunday.

You’ve reached the point where you’re in a financial position to acquire an apartment or a home in Israel, while still living in the US. Perhaps you’re putting in roots for a future move or just making an investment in the place that reflects your deepest values.

The dilemma, however, is how do you successfully navigate between the different Israeli real estate developers, real estate lawyers and Israeli bankers, and find the property that best suits your budget and needs?

One trustworthy solution is to contact Olim Advisors, an Israel-based organization with a growing clientele list and rave reviews, which opened a new real estate investment advisory service in September.

Olim Advisors was profiled in The Jewish Link in 2018 and noted for its efforts to “make aliyah possible for anyone who has a serious desire to move to Israel” by advising clients on a range of issues such as moving companies, registering children for schools, what to bring on a lift, arranging Internet service, setting up bank accounts, accompanying them to their government appointments to have their documents processed and much more.

Olim Advisors is distinct from (and not a part of) Nefesh B’Nefesh, which assists olim in handling pre-aliyah Israeli government processes and other select aspects of their relocation. Olim Advisors assists olim, both pre- and post-aliyah, in handling many of the logistical and bureaucratic matters that Nefesh B’Nefesh does not cover.

Started in 2016, Olim Advisors was established by a sister and brother, Lara Itzhaki and Rafi Shulman, who had both successfully made aliyah years earlier and saw a clear need for an organization of this type. Olim Advisors has since grown to encompass three full-time and one part-time staff members, as well as a few freelancers during their busy seasons.

Shulman stated that while their new real estate investment advisory service was formally set up six months ago, “we’ve been helping people in this area since day one.”

Evidence of Olim Advisors’ proven track record can be seen in the glowing testimonials they have attracted:

“Although it’s an exciting time, the process of making aliyah has also been filled with uncertainty and anxiety,” said Marc and Lauren Shinar, who moved from Riverdale to Modi’in. “There’s lots to do, and it can be difficult to keep all the balls in the air, especially because we’re far away and don’t have complete mastery of the language. All we can say is Thank God for Olim Advisors.”

“Olim Advisors has a wealth of information and connections,” said Deena Sokolov of Even Yehuda. “My parents moved to Israel last year. Lara took care of everything, including recommending an amazing real estate agent who found them a great apartment. If you want to make this process easier, Olim Advisors is the way to go.”

Shulman pointed out that Olim Advisors Real Estate does not charge its clients for its services; rather, it receives financial support from Israeli real estate developers and mortgage brokers. This arrangement helps to ensure that their counsel does not become an added cost to an American citizen’s quest to invest in Israel (if a client decides to work directly with an Israeli realtor or real estate lawyer, however, they will need to pay that professional’s fee).

To introduce potential investors in the NJ/NY/CT region to the possibilities in Israeli real estate, Olim Advisors will be holding a “Buying A Home in Israel Webinar” on Sunday, April 25, from noon to 1 p.m. The webinar will cover topics such as finding a home in Israel, the mortgage industry in Israel, legal aspects of buying a home in Israel, and real estate investment opportunities in emerging areas. The webinar will feature talks by US consultant for Olim Advisors Paul Bloom of Edison, Menachem Levinsky of Mizrahi Tefahot Bank Ltd., Avraham Levinsky of Levinsky Real Estate firm, and Rafi Shulman and Anita Atias from Olim Advisors. “We aim to be the trusted source, when someone doesn’t understand the process and wants guidance,” said Shulman. “We’re not a real estate company. We don’t represent one vendor or another. We’re here to protect our clients.”
