Olympic figure skater and Kushner alumna Hailey Kops (JKHA ‘16) spoke to the RKYHS students as part of their SEED speaker series. Kops helped to kick off the “HPRevolution” in the high school. The HPRevolution is a new program spearheaded by Mashgicha Ruchanit Rebbetzin Sarah Proops to encourage students to not see life coincidentally and recognize the hashgacha pratit or Divine providence in their everyday lives. Kops shared her inspirational journey with students where she ultimately became an Olympic figure skater representing Israel in the 2022 Olympic games. She described how throughout her journey with support from her friends and family, she was able to see that Hashem had a hand in guiding her throughout. She also shared that she consistently thought of the acronym POP which was shared by her grandfather and represents Patience, Optimism and Perseverance.
Thank you to Hailey for the inspirational and motivational words. At the end of the program students received “HPRevolution Thank you Hashem” wristbands. Between now and Chanukah students will hear hashgacha pratit examples from fellow students after Shacharit, and a white board will be located in the Student Activities Center where students can add their own personal anecdotes for the prompt “I saw Hashem when…..” The HPRevolution initiative at RKYHS will give perspective to students and help them to see Hashem’s role in their everyday lives.
