“Names, Not Numbers©,” an interactive oral-history project featuring a dynamic group of Florida students, will be screened on the ABC affiliate stations in many regions this weekend. For early birds and those able to set their DVRs to record, it will be on ABC 7 in the tri-state area on Sunday, October 18, at 5 a.m. “It is a real honor to have our project being showcased on the ABC affiliates throughout the U.S.,” said Tova Rosenberg, NNN’s founder and director. The compelling and timely film follows the experience of a dynamic group of students from four Miami-based public schools and one Jewish day school. They interviewed local survivors and documented their memories, stories and lessons of the Holocaust, learning professsional documentary filmmaking skills in the process. The film was sponsored by the Florida Department of Education. “Maybe New Jersey, and other states, could consider this as well,” Rosenberg said.
“Names, Not Numbers© takes students and viewers on a journey to document Holocaust survivor stories and memories, while developing useful skills in interviewing and documentary filmmaking. They also forge lasting relationships with the survivors they meet, who share their personal stories and reflections for a better tomorrow,” added Rosenberg.
