OU Press, the publishing division of the Orthodox Union, announces the publication of Megillat Esther Mesorat HaRav, published in conjunction with Koren Publishers, Jerusalem.
On Tuesday, Feb. 27, the OU and Koren will host a book event for the book. The recently published book offers readers access to the teaching and insights of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik. The Rav’s commentary plumbs the depths of Megillat Esther, and finds within it not only a story of political intrigue but a timeless drama of Jewish, and indeed human, existence.
Rabbi Moshe Genack will offer introductory remarks and Rabbi Dr. Meir Y. Soloveichik will be the featured speaker. The event will take place on Tuesday, February 27th at 7:30pm at Congregation Shearith Israel, located at 2 West 70th Street in New York.
Megillat Esther Mesorat HaRav contains, alongside the text of Megillat Esther and the Maariv service for Purim, a running commentary drawn from the teachings of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik, collected from a variety of published writings, notes and lectures. The Megillah itself is presented in Koren’s distinctive typeface with a new, contemporary translation by Jessica Sacks.
Megillat Esther Mesorat HaRav will be a welcome addition to Jewish libraries, both as an original perspective on the Purim holiday and as part of the growing body of the Rav’s works. It joins other high quality works on Megillat Esther from OU Press, including The Megilla: Majesty and Mystery by Rabbi Dr. Norman Lamm, and The Queen You Thought You Knew: Unmasking Esther’s Hidden Story by Rabbi David Fohrman.
