(Courtesy of OU) The Orthodox Union Women’s Initiative is bringing back its highly successful ALIT Summer Virtual Beit Midrash. The program will offer a two-week schedule July 10-20 with Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday tracks of virtual classes and interactive discussions for women all over North America and around the world.
Providing in-depth, text-based learning on halacha, Jewish history, middot, Tehillim, philosophy and medical ethics connecting participants with educators and each other, the annual program will run this summer via Zoom. Courses will be taught by renown educators including Rivka Maron, Rivka Segal, Shalvie Friedman, Abigail H. Meyer, Rabbanit Shani Taragin, Michal Horowitz and Dr. Hindi Posy.
Courses range from the practical to the inspirational, including halachic lessons on financial matters taught on Tuesday and Thursday evenings by Rabbanit Taragin and a Monday/Wednesday morning Tehillim class with Segal, who will explore various psalms that are particularly appropriate to be recited during the time of the Three Weeks.
Founding Director of the OU Women’s Initiative Rebbetzin Dr. Adina Shmidman said: “This program provides an opportunity for spiritual self-care, a chance to treat yourself to high-level learning and inspiration opportunities. It’s a chance to connect to Torah with a community of like-minded learners.”
The courses cost $25 each for the first two courses, and $75 total (for three or more). Subsidies are available for those who need them. There is an opportunity for synagogues to join as a group. For more information or to register, visit:
