If you were driving around Englewood this past Sunday you might have seen a group of 25 people sprinting through the streets. That was our team, “Garden State Warriors.” It was another great training session at The Gym in Englewood with our fierce leader, Chani Teigman. Chani changed things up for us by having us work out at “The Cage,” which is an outdoor training unit. We did relay races, rope climbing, push ups, pull ups and, lastly, we sprinted on the streets of Englewood. We gave it our all—blood, sweat and tears.
The Fourth Annual OXC-OHEL Xtreme Challenge will take place on Sunday, May 27, at Camp Kaylie in Wurtsboro, New York. In this challenge we will be challenging our bodies and testing our limits. We will run, climb, crawl and jump through the five-mile obstacle course.
The main reason for this challenge is to raise money for OHEL, an extraordinary organization dedicated to serving individuals and their families who struggle every day with a myriad of life’s hardships. Their services range from foster care to mental-health and family-wellness services, to providing residential housing to those with developmental disabilities, and the list goes on
We are so excited because our team is the number-one team. We have already raised $26,429, which is $10,000 more than the second-best team. We’d like to raise even more money and help this incredible organization.
Our group is a diverse group of people from New Jersey. Some of us knew each other before and others have met for the first time. We have meshed really well together and we’re all determined to have the largest group in the challenge and to finish in first place in fundraising.
Our team is growing and just this week we got four new members because they saw my previous article and wanted to join in on the fun. As I’ve said before, it’s not too late and anyone can join our team. We are looking for anyone who is looking for a challenge while benefiting a great cause in the process. We meet every Sunday morning at 11:30 at The Gym in Englewood. But if you can’t make the training sessions don’t fret; you can still join our team. To join, go to www.oheloxc.org and join The Garden State Warriors Team.
