Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Moshe and his friends went to the zoo. When they got there they went straight to the elephants, their favorite animal. While they were walking they got into a big fight about which way to go. Some kids were walking past and stared at them, and Moshe got really embarrassed.

After their fight they got really thirsty so they went to buy some water bottles and thanked Hashem that they finally got water. When they finished their water, some of Moshe’s friends threw their water bottles on the ground.

Moshe got very worried because he saw the same group of kids walking past him and he didn’t want them to think that Jews always litter, and they already saw them fighting (it was very obvious that they were Jewish because they were wearing kippahs and tzitzit). Moshe told his friends that they should pick up their water bottles because he didn’t want people to think that Jews litter. His friends said they don’t want to pick up their water bottles and said it doesn’t matter if some kids see their litter. Moshe turned around and picked up all the bottles himself.

Connection to the parsha:

In this week’s parsha it talks about how we should not make a chillul Hashem, which means that we should not cause people to think badly about Jews and Torah. Hashem gave us the Torah so that we can keep mitzvot and make Him proud.

Questions for the week:

1. How was this a chillul Hashem?

2. Give an example of how you can make a kiddush Hashem,

3. When you are in public, are you careful about the way you act?

Challenge for the week:

Try not to make a chillul Hashem.
