Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Emma and her class went on a hike. At the hike, there was a mini-store with a lot of cool things. Emma saw a really cute polar bear teddy and looked in her bag to try to find her wallet. When she couldn’t find it, she asked her friend Lia if she could borrow some money. Lia asked how much and Emma said 12 dollars and 25 cents. So Lia bought Emma the polar bear and Emma promised to pay her back.

The next day Lia asked Emma for her money and Emma said she forgot and would bring it tomorrow. The next day when Lia asked for her money Emma gave her 10 dollars. Lia asked why she only gave her 10 dollars, and Emma said it was only 2 dollars and 25 cents and she’d bring the rest tomorrow. Emma didn’t bring it the next day so Lia had to come to Emma’s house and remind her again. Lia was really upset because she had to remind Emma so many times.

Connection to the parsha:

This week’s parsha talks about how if we borrow money or anything else we must give it back right away; otherwise we might forget and never pay or give it back, and it would be like stealing. You should always give back stuff you borrowed right away.

Questions for the week:

1. Did someone ever borrow one of your things and not return it?

2. Have you ever borrowed someone else’s things and not given them back?

3. What would you do in this situation?

Challenge for the week:

If you borrow something, try to give it back right away.
