Participation Is Key at RYNJ Metric Math Olympiad

“The most important part in the Olympic Games is not to win, it is to take part.” Words once spoken by Pierre de Coubertin are today known as the Olympic creed. On the seventh night of February in the year 2017, 90 male RYNJ Olympians gathered from the third and fourth grades in the Felman Athletic Center to compete at the RYNJ Metric Math Olympiad. Olympians and their fans (parents and grandparents) flocked to 12 different stations to test their mathematical strengths and abilities while using the Metric system to estimate and measure different weights and lengths. At the end of the night, six boys took home the gold, or, rather, jellybeans. Mazel tov to gold medalists Moshe Kra, Natan Burg, Ezra Hochbaum, Nosson Feigenbaum, Avrumi Shur and Joey Slomnicki. All of the boys took home door prizes for competing. They were all true winners for enjoying an incredible night with family and friends.
