Each year approximately 150,000-200,000 people go away for Passover, traveling to many different types of programs all over the world. “The biggest issue is that there are over 100 Pesach programs each year and it’s such a daunting task to find reviews, pricing and other information about these programs,” explained Doni Schwartz, co-founder of the ultimate Passover program platform, Passover Listings.
As the ultimate guide to every single Pesach program around the globe, passoverlistings.com makes it easy for people to find the program that fits their needs and gets them the most bang for their buck. Together with its extremely useful Pesach Program Pricing Tool calculator, people don’t believe how quickly and easy it is to find the perfect program for their family at any budget.
It’s not just Pesach programs that Schwartz and co-founder Daniel Kramer feature either. There is also a separate site called My Jewish Listings dedicated to kosher travel including destinations for yeshiva break, Sukkot programs, Shavuot programs, and even summer vacations.
Having attended Pesach programs for over 30 years, Schwartz and Kramer operate exclusively in the kosher travel space and have experienced the good, the bad and the ugly. For the last seven years they have been gathering information on every single Passover program out there, collecting tens of thousands of verified and useful reviews, all in an effort to help people decide where to spend their Pesach vacation.
“Every year there’s always been one or two programs out there that fall short on reviews.
Unfortunately, there are also some operators out there who have been taking money and running.” So a few years ago, Schwartz and Kramer started a Facebook group called Passover Program Reviews to try and prevent such issues and also give a forum to people who attended Pesach programs to be able to speak up and provide honest reviews.
“Across all of our forums you’ll find thousands of real reviews from honest individuals with opinions on the food, programming and anything that factors into a Passover program.” Reviews also address the hotel and its amenities, the size of the programs, which can range from a couple of hundred guests to a couple of thousand, and even the entertainment.
But it’s not just the reviews that people are getting on passoverlistings.com. There is plenty of other information available so consumers know exactly what they are getting. For starters, people can learn about the program operators. Passover Listings will tell you who they are, how many years of experience they have operating Passover programs, and in what other locations have operated Pesach programs. It’s the perfect combination of Yelp and Tripadvisor that has been created exclusively for Passover programs.
“It’s all about researching the history of the program and what happened in prior years. Because you want to make sure your family is going to have a wonderful time and the only way to do that is to know about the operator,” said Schwartz and Kramer, who help answer all those questions and address concerns within the industry to ensure that travelers have all the necessary information to make informed decisions.
Every review is validated and in some cases reviewers must submit proof that they attended the program for which they are submitting a review. While the site does not hinder what people say, reviewers do have to be respectful and constructive and say what they want to say in a way that helps program operators know how to improve the experience. “We don’t operate as a complaint forum,” Schwartz added. He said that program operators are working all year round to make sure that their guests have a wonderful and amazing vacation for the money that they are paying. “But at the end of the day we want to make sure the truth is out there so we monitor these reviews very carefully.”
Schwartz stressed, however, that these are still other people’s opinions. “Just because someone did not like the food does not mean that it was a bad program. But if there were a lot of people who did not like the food, it gives the program operator a reason to make a change the following year and attempt to improve upon things.”
Passover Listings has a number of ways to help you find the perfect program with filters for budget ranges, kashrut, locations, and even minhagim such as gebrokts versus non-gebrokts. Of course, people can even filter their selections by reviews as well.
Schwartz said the best way to start is to have a budget in mind and then select locations. Some people want to check out Europe while others might seek out a beach resort in the Caribbean. Maybe your family enjoys more adventurous activities and exciting excursions. Or maybe you prefer a prime golf course and pickleball courts. Are top tier entertainers high on your list? Or maybe you just want a luxury program but want to stay local. “You can easily filter it down from 120 programs to just a handful,” said Schwartz.
Speaking of budget, “every year everyone asks what the price of this program or that program is,” Schwartz said. For the first time ever, Passover Listings made it easy and has a pricing tool that calculates a family’s cost with a click of the button. Best of all, it’s free and allows consumers to submit their details directly to the program operator as well for a call back.
Whatever consumers decide, Schwartz always recommends getting travel insurance and “Cancel Anytime” insurance. He also said to always read the contract in hand and make sure to read the fine print very carefully.
Still not sure where to go for Pesach? Why not give Passover Listings a call. All year long, Schwartz and Kramer are available to answer questions, give advice and information for all your kosher travels and best of all, it’s completely free.
