(Courtesy of OHEL) The Annual Nine Days Conference at the Fallsview Estates Shul in the Catskills was sponsored by the United Task Force and cosponsored by OHEL Children’s Home, Torah Umesorah and MASK. This year we welcomed Dr. David Pelcovitz, who gave a talk called “Is Giving Our Children Everything Really Giving Them Nothing? Children, Values and Us.”

Dr. Pelcovitz, Straus Chair in Psychology and Education, Azrieli Graduate School, was joined by a panel featuring Rabbi Mordechai Besser, executive school consultant, Torah Umesorah; Hindie M. Klein, PsyD, OHEL director of clinical projects; and Faye Zakheim, PhD, co-chair UTF and assistant professor at NYU Silver School of Social Work, for a post-lecture question and answer session.

Dr. Pelcovitz spoke about proper values in child rearing, specifically about creating appropriate boundaries in a nurturing and guided way. He also provided guidance about ideal methods in creating these boundaries effectively and lovingly.

After the insightful and practical lecture, many in the audience asked important questions and received expert answers from the panel.
