Pesach and Community Chesed Meet at Ramaz

The freshman class of the Ramaz Upper School, together with Dean of Students Rabbi Dov Pianko and math teacher Miriam Kavian, visited the Met Council in the last days of school before Pesach and helped the organization prepare for their annual Passover distribution. Ahead of Pesach, the Met Council collects enough kosher food to give to over 12,000 low-income senior citizens in New York City. This year, they were able to distribute over two million pounds of food, some of which Ramaz freshman class helped package!

Upon arrival, the students were put right to work. Some students were tasked with dismantling old and used boxes while others constructed new ones. Another assignment was to clean vegetables and organize them in the facility. Students also helped by packing cleaning supplies. The entire group agreed that this communal chesed was the perfect way to get in the spirit of Pesach.

Later that week, members of the senior class, together with Grade Dean Dr. Nancy Block, delivered food packages to needy families around New York City.
