Simone Wruble lives in Teaneck, NJ. She has run a wedding and bar mitzvah invitation business there for 17 years. Like most people, each year she celebrates Pesach with family – either at home or at one of the myriads of Pesach hotels around the country. This past year, she spent Pesach with Eddie’s Kosher Travel in Israel.
“Honestly, the best part was having only one seder and more days of chol hamoed,” Wruble admitted with a laugh.
“The whole experience was wonderful. The hotel, hosted by David and Chana Walles and the Eddie’s Kosher Travel team, was very nice. Food was tasty and plentiful. I was at the Tiberias location and it was amazing. You can walk around on the boardwalk where restaurants are open, featuring all kinds of kosher for Passover food you would never get in the U.S. Also, compared to American programs (and I have been to my fair share of them), this was much more affordable without having to compromise on service and amenities.”
Wruble joined the hotel with her parents, her brother and his family, cousins and even her brother-in-law’s mother, Leah Kaufman from Montreal, a holocaust survivor who went through the war as a nine year old child on her own.
“Everyone called her Bubby Leah – even people who aren’t related to her. David Walles invited her to speak and she was able to share some of her memories. She is a real inspiration and we all felt like one big family.”
Indeed, family seems to be the key word with Eddie’s Kosher Travel. Wruble said it was beautiful to see lots of big tables with big groups. “The crowd was a mix of Anglo Saxons from the U.S., England, Australia and South Africa. It was a real cross section. Families sat together and everything was well organized. There were many day trips arranged for us during chol hamoed, including a big bus that went to the Leket organization where we helped pick beets together.”
This year is the 27th year at Eddie’s Kosher Travel and they are proud to offer six different hotel destinations to choose from in Israel.
