After defeating Manor Shoes in round one of the playoffs, the Pizza Crave ladies headed to the championship game against the undefeated Gotham Burger team. To make the task even more daunting, the Pizza Crave squad was playing with a lighter bench than usual. One player was on the disabled list with a strep throat and another player was away in Florida. But the eight girls that showed up did an incredible job, with every girl getting at least one base hit.

The Pizza Crave fielding was phenomenal! The defensive play of the game came when Emma tracked down a ball that one of the Gotham Burger players launched to right field. Emma quickly ran down the ball and threw a laser to the pitcher to minimize the damage. No runs scored as a result!

All the bats were as hot as a Grandma slice right out of the oven. Talya had four hits and scored four runs. Nurit, Jordy, Emma and Isabella each had three hits and many RBI’s. The table setters, Rachel and Aleeza, combined to have 11 hits in 12 at bats, scoring nine runs. None of those runs would have scored without Olivia, cleaning the bases and driving them in.

The start of the regular season was mediocre for team Pizza Crave, but their 3-5 record earned a number-two seed in the playoffs. In the playoffs the rules are simple: win and you advance, lose and you can start working on your summer plans.

Pizza Crave brought home the championship with a strong win and an exciting game. Their sponsor came through as well with a delicious victory party at their restaurant.  It was a fun, learning experience for all.
