Police Alert on Bergenfield Burglars

Bergenfield–Police say there have been a number of residential break-ins on the Teaneck-Bergenfield border with West Englewood. In two cases, the residents were at home and the suspects fled when confronted.

On Tuesday, a Bergenfield resident called 911 from the home and confronted the suspect, who according to a Bergenfield Police blog post, fled to a getaway car driven by his accomplice, as witnessed by a crew from PSE&G. The crew grew suspicious and called the cops with a description of the suspects. The Bergenfield police issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) and Teaneck patrol officers spotted and stopped the vehicle. The two suspects, ages, 45 and 53, did not post bail and remained in custody as of press time. In another incident on Wednesday, a suspect broke into a home but escaped custody on foot, though K-9 teams were searching the area.

The Bergenfield police advise the public to be vigilant in locking doors, windows, setting alarms, etc., and report anything suspicious. Congregation Beth Abraham has been in touch with the Bergenfield Police Department and notified their members that security has been stepped up in the area.
