It has been a whirlwind and an amazing experience to oversee and choreograph 14 dances this year, a record for Meorot. My junior dance instructors were amazing, and one of my favorite things was hearing them call out “Energy!” and “Smile!” during rehearsals. They were really helping the girls reach their full potential.
Building a program that progresses over the years has been gratifying to see. As the girls grow, they can take on more complicated dance routines and styles, which is reflected in the final performance. The younger girls watch the high schoolers with faces of awe and inspiration, and I can see how proud they are to be a part of Meorot.
Music is the language of the soul, and helping the girls find expression to celebrate the beauty and joy of music with movement is a highlight for me throughout the year. I have heard that Meorot has an impact on camp color war, Rikudiah and high school productions.
The word “Meorot” means heavenly luminaries. That is exactly what our girls are in Meorot each year!
