Students at the JEC Lower School got to experience the intricacies of matzah baking firsthand as Rabbi Yisrael Rosenblum of Living Legacy brought his mobile matzah bakery to the Jewish Educational Center last week, much to the delight of the students. With the smell of freshly baked matzahs wafting through the air, Rabbi Rosenbaum took students in the JEC early childhood division on a journey through the 10 makot, Bnei Yisrael’s ultimate exodus from Mitzrayim and how they baked matzahs as they departed. The students were already well-versed in both the narrative of Pesach and the songs, and they gleefully sang and clapped along with him. The children had an opportunity to try their hands at collecting the wheat kernels, grinding them into flour and kneading and rolling out their very own matzot. It was a fun and meaningful activity for everyone.
