Preschoolers at Chabad of Fort Lee Learn Fire Safety

With the holiday of Chanukah, fire safety is an important topic to discuss. Many families will be celebrating by lighting Chanukah menorahs in their homes. The children at the Preschool at Chabad of Fort Lee enjoyed a visit from Firefighters Mary and John from the Fort Lee Fire Department for a fire safety lesson. Here are some of the things they discussed:

Plan and practice home escape plan and school fire alarm safety drills.

Smoke alarms warn about fires.

Practice stop, drop and roll.

Get low and go under the smoke.

Get out of a burning building and stay out.

Call 911.

Don’t be afraid of firefighters; firefighters rescue people.

Hot things burn.

Don’t play with fire.

Designate a meeting place outside.

Memorize their full names, address and telephone number.

We have a great opportunity to empower children with the skills and confidence that they can use to help keep themselves and others safe.

We thank Firefighters Mary and John from the Fort Lee Fire Department for coming to school for their annual fire safety lesson.
