(Courtesy of Bris Avrohom) A group of young professionals from the former Soviet Union who live in different parts of Israel recently visited New York. They spent Shabbat in Crown Heights and enjoyed Shabbat meals at different hosts, where they got to observe a true Shabbat, family style, complete with singing and divrei Torah.

They visited the tzion of the Rebbe in Queens and then came for a final dinner at Bris Avrohom Headquarters in Hillside. At the dinner Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky shared his fascinating life story, telling the visitors how his parents observed Torah and mitzvot under the Communist regime and how he himself learned underground for a few years. He then related the miracle of how the Rebbe got them out of Russia.
