Matan Angrest (Matan ben Anat), 21, was taken hostage from his burning tank at Kibbutz Nahal Oz by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7, 2023. Matan’s friend Itay Chen and others in the tank unit were killed, and Matan was severely injured. Released hostages have reported that he is being interrogated, starved and tortured.

Matan is from Kiryat Bialik and is the oldest of four siblings. He is a student and avid soccer player. He has appeared in Hamas audios and videos urging Israel to negotiate a hostage deal.

Matan’s mother, Anat, said, “Every mother in Israel needs to understand the reality of our situation.” She added, “Please, just bring my child home.”
