Profile of Shlomo Asad Mansour

Shlomo Asad Mansour, 86, (Shlomo ben Marcel) was beaten and kidnapped by Hamas on Oct. 7 from his home on Kibbutz Kissufim. His wife of 60 years, Mazal, escaped. Eight residents of Kissufim, a small kibbutz, were killed and four were taken captive.

Shlomo was born in Iraq and immigrated to Israel at the age of 13 after surviving the 1941 Farhud Massacre in Baghdad. He manages the chicken coop and the carpentry shop for the kibbutz and is known for his warm heart. He is the oldest of the 134 captives still being held by Hamas in Gaza, and turned 86 in captivity. Shlomo and Mazal have 15 grandchildren.
