Tal Shoham, 38, (Tal ben Nitza), was kidnapped by Hamas operatives from Kibbutz Be’eri on Oct. 7, along with his wife Adi, 38, and their children, Naveh, 8, and Yahel Neri, 4. Adi, a psychologist, Naveh and Yahel were released on Nov. 25, while Tal remains in captivity. Roughly 100 Israelis out of a community of around 1,100 were killed at Kibbutz Be’eri.

Tal is an Austrian and Italian citizen. “My big brother Tal is the person I look up to and turn to,” his sister Mor Korngold, said. Tal is described as an autodidact, a lover of people and nature. The Shoham family lives in northern Israel.

The Shohams were visiting relatives at the kibbutz for Simchat Torah and were hiding in a safe room when they were found and abducted. The home in which they were staying was burned to the ground. Tal’s phone was later found in Gaza.
