Rabbi Dr. Jeffrey Woolf to Be Rinat Yisrael’s Scholar in Residence This Shabbat

On Shabbat, May 4, the Adult Education Committee of Cong. Rinat Yisrael presents as Scholar in Residence: Rabbi Dr. Jeffrey Woolf of Bar Ilan University. This event is cosponsored by the Religious Zionists of America-Mizrachi.

Dr. Woolf will deliver the drasha at the 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. minyanim. On Shabbat afternoon at 6:05 p.m., he will speak about “Hunting, Dancing, Masquerading and Halakhah: The Remarkable World of Italian Jewry.” After mincha (7:20 p.m.) he will address: “A History of Humra: Not Everything You Might Expect.”

Dr. Jeffrey Woolf is lecturer in the department of Talmud and maggid shiur in the Jesselson Institute of Higher Torah Studies at Bar Ilan University. He earned a Ph.D. in Medieval Jewish History and the History of Halacha from Harvard University, and ordination from both Rav Gedalia Felder, the late Av Bet Din of Toronto and RIETS. Among his academic distinctions is a postdoctoral fellowship and lectureship in the department of religion at Yale University.
