Rabbi Kanelsky Gives Benediction at General Assembly of the State of NJ

(Courtesy of Bris Avrohom) On Tuesday, January 11, the 220th General Assembly of the State of New Jersey took place, which included the swearing-in of the members of the assembly, the speaker and all the elected officials.

Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky was honored to give the benediction, where he blessed the assembled and their family members. In addition, as an honor to the Rebbe, who valued education, and in honor of yud Shevat, Rabbi Kanelsky suggested that it be implemented in the schools’ education for all ages to speak about G-d and to observe a moment of silence. He then spoke how it behooves the governing body to adhere to the seven Noahide Laws, as that is the cornerstone of a lasting and just society.

He concluded with putting a dollar, on which is engraved “In God we trust,” into a charity box, and elaborated on the symbolism of charity.
