Rabbi Moshe Taragin to Speak at Rinat Yisrael

The Adult Education Committee of Congregation Rinat Yisrael proudly presents Moshe Taragin on Sunday, February 17, at 8:45 a.m. to speak on the topic, “Has Brisker Creativity and Tanach Analysis Eliminated the Awe of Talmud Torah?”

The past 200 years have witnessed the emergence of Brisker methods of Talmud study, as well as the popularization of renewed approaches toward Tanach analysis. How have these methodologies affected the religious experience of Talmud Torah? Rabbi Taragin has been a ram at Yeshivat Har Etzion for the past 24 years. He also teaches at Migdal Oz, and is the author of an internet Talmudic Methodology shiur, among several other internet shiurim. He has semicha from RIETS, a BA in computer science from Yeshiva College, and an MA in English Literature from CUNY. Rabbi Taragin has also taught Talmud at Columbia University, has lectured in Talmud and Tanach at Yeshiva University and has served as assistant rabbi at the Fifth Avenue Synagogue.
